The Welsh Assembly
The changes that was made in the 2011 welsh
assembly referendum was regarding the ability to extend the law-making powers
of the National Assembly for Wales to be extended to all matters in the 20
subject areas, which include: agriculture, education, training and economic
development. As a result of the election process that had taken place at 3rd
of March 2011, the results were declared by the following day showing a 63.49%
acceptance for extending the law making power of the Welsh Assembly. Before the
referendum, the Assembly used to make its own laws on some matters, however,
for other matters the Assembly used to had to ask the UK Parliament to transfer
the power to them. Nevertheless, now the Welsh Assembly government and the
Assembly can make laws for wales on all subject matters without the permission
from the UK Parliament first, therefore, this represented a substantial
development in the Welsh devolution.
